Preferentially expressed antigen in melanoma (PRAME) is detected in approximately 90% of melanoma subtypes, while it is negative in roughly 85% of cutaneous melanocytic nevi. Immunohistochemical detection of PRAME is useful as an adjunct diagnostic tool to help distinguish malignant melanoma from benign melanocytic lesions.
