Identifies a plasma membrane-associated glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells and in other cell types, including megakaryocytes, mesangial cells, synovial cells, mesothelial cells, and some squamous epithelia. It serves as a marker for endothelial cells, vascular neoplasms, urinary bladder epithelium, and aids in distinguishing mesothelioma from adenocarcinoma. In mesotheliomas, staining is typically thick and membranous, while approximately half of pulmonary adenocarcinomas show cytoplasmic staining.
Tissue Block: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumor block preferred.
Unstained Slides: Recommended 2 charged slides per stain requested (minimum of 1 slide per stain), baked or unbaked.
Fixation: Tissue must be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for 6–72 hours.
Use cold pack for transport. Make sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen.
